Join our field production team!

Our Goal:

Our goal is to expand our reach, connect deeply with our audience, grow our followers, and identify impactful messengers for caregivers through short-form social media videos.

These videos will feature engaging street interviews, sharing authentic stories from parents on their experiences, choices, and personal growth. We’ll explore how policies like paid family leave shape family life and delve into the emotional aspects of various parenting styles and self-reparenting.

We’re seeking dynamic individuals to join our content team at ParentsTogether. You’ll engage the public on parenting topics, creating high-quality content for TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. This role requires strong communication skills, confidence in approaching strangers, and the ability to create authentic, engaging content for parents and families.

A stipend is included for a production assistant to support public outings, ensuring safety and helping with equipment.

  • Conducting on-the-street interviews with the public: Selecting filming locations; setting up equipment; engaging with passers-by; asking them questions provided by ParentsTogether; creating a fun, relaxed atmosphere that puts people at ease and allows people to open up.
  • Capturing video content in a respectful, professional, and light-hearted manner.
  • Producing edited video content based on our outlines, ensuring high-quality video and audio recordings (1080P or 4K video).
  • Obtaining consent from interviewees for recording and use in content.
  • Managing video files and collaborating with the content team to share footage.
  • Providing feedback on the experience of conducting interviews and the process as a whole.
  • Being the main point of contact with the ParentsTogether team for project updates.
  • Connecting with viewers by reflecting on parenting identities, encouraging them to share their stories, and inviting them to engage with us further.
  • Have a fun, easygoing personality that puts people at ease and facilitates open conversation, and a camera presence that’s entertaining and enjoyable to watch.
  • Be available to collect approximately 10 responses to each of 3 questions provided for each assignment (this could mean speaking to 10 people who each give full, useful answers to all three questions, or it might mean talking to 30 people who each only answer one — as determined by the creator and the circumstances).
  • Experience in content creation, videography, or social media management.
  • Ability to work independently and manage technical details (audio, video quality, consent forms).
  • Own a video recording device capable of 1080p/4K recording and skill at capturing clear video and audio in public (potentially loud, windy, unpredictable, etc.) environments.
  • Have a reliable associate to accompany them on outings in public for safety and to assist with equipment, engaging the public, etc (this person will be paid a stipend as part of this position).
    • Responsibilities:
      • Assist the lead content creator in setting up and managing street interviews.
      • Help facilitate interactions with the public by engaging people to participate in interviews.
      • Help with equipment setup, breakdown, and managing logistics during interview sessions.
    • Qualifications:
      • Comfortable interacting with people in public spaces.
      • Interest in video production or social media content creation.
      • Ability to assist with technical setup, such as managing equipment, lighting, and sound.
      • A team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to help wherever needed.
  • Guidance and Adaptation: Personalized coaching on the project’s experimental goals and adjustments based on the outcomes of the experiments.
  • Content Support: Access to proposed final video treatments to guarantee alignment with our audience and the overall objectives of the video franchises.
  • Collaborative Culture: An environment that highly values and encourages your creative input, fostering a collaborative partnership.

All videos will be featured on ParentsTogether’s owned channels.

These videos will be part of a new franchise consisting of spontaneous on-the-street interviews. ParentsTogether will provide the questions you should ask; these will primarily be parenting-related questions (such as, “How much time does your kid spend online on a typical day?”), on topics adjacent to parenting (such as, “What would you say is the most expensive part of raising kids?”), or about issues that impact parents and families (such as, “How many weeks of paid parental leave do you think parents get in Germany?”). The creator and each person interviewed will be shown on screen, with occasional close up/zoomed shots to highlight speakers and maintain visual interest.

As a modestly sized nonprofit, we operate with a limited budget. However, we are committed to offering fair compensation to our creators for their invaluable contributions. If you’re drawn to this opportunity, we encourage an open conversation about compensation rates.

Our rate for a short-term (2 month) trial contract is $250 per session (with a “session” defined as the time it takes to get the target number of quality responses), as well as a $100 per session stipend paid to a production assistant, identified and chosen by the successful candidate (ParentsTogether can help find an assistant for you if needed). We anticipate assigning approximately four sessions during the 2-month trial.

Following the trial contract period and associated experimentation, ParentsTogether may extend the contract for a longer term, as agreed to by both parties.
