Easy activities to keep kids learning and bonding all summer long

Summer can be a childcare juggling act for parents, but it can also be so much fun to spend extra time together when the kids are out of school.

To make it easier to get to that place of joy and bonding, we’re sharing all of our favorite summer activities for kids. Each week on the ParentsTogether Instagram account, we bring you a mix of ideas in these categories:

  • Brain Boost: Cultivate a love of learning by making science, math, reading, and other subjects fun and hands on!
  • Food Fun: Tasty treats you can make, or pick out, together
  • Mindful Moment: Mental health tips for the whole family
  • Creative Corner: Arts and crafts, and beyond!
  • Skills Sweep: Practical life skills to help kids become more independent, eventually
  • Indoor Idea: For when you just want to chill inside (or it’s just too hot out!)
  • Outdoor Opp: Get fresh air in unexpected ways

It’s totally fine for kids to be “bored” sometimes, so don’t feel guilty if they’re not enrolled in all the camps and summer programs, and you’re not going on any fancy vacations.

But for those times when you need some inspiration for planning family activities, follow our summer activities series for easy and creative ideas.

Best of all? These activities are all free or low cost, because we know how tough it is out there for families!
