National Grandparents Day is celebrated on the first Sunday after Labor Day. This year, it falls on September 7. Anyone, at any age, can honor the holiday!

Grandparents, great-grandparents, great-aunts, great-uncles, and other elders can bring so much joy, care, and perspective to our families. Many grandparents today serve as primary or part-time caregivers for grandchildren, while for other families there is no living grandparent around anymore. But either way, we can still learn from older generations through the culture, stories, and memories they’ve imparted.

As our country’s aging population grows, Grandparents Day becomes even more important in our communities. You can celebrate by carving out time for grandparents to spend with grandchildren, sharing stories with older or younger generations, going through old photo albums or mementos, or creating something special for an older adult in your life. Or, try your hand at our trivia quiz below!
