National Hispanic Heritage Month is recognized from September 15 to October 15 each year. It’s a great time to honor the contributions of Hispanic and Latino/Latina/Latinx Americans and explore the roots of Latin American and Spanish cultures.

Hispanic or Latino Americans make up about 19 percent of the U.S. population. But there’s also incredible diversity within that label, when you consider the diaspora from the dozens of countries in Central America, South America, the Caribbean, and Spain, plus the language and culture diversity within those places, and the long and varied history of Hispanic and Latino people in America throughout the centuries.

Every family, whether you identify as Hispanic or Latino or not, can find something new to learn and explore during Hispanic Heritage Month — and beyond!
